QuickVue Influenza A+B rapid test for influenza surveillance in community

چکیده
Methods As part of a large community study, subjects older than 2 years reporting at least two symptoms of influenzalike-illness were recruited from 30 outpatient clinics in Hong Kong prospectively from February 2007 to July 2010 around the influenza seasons [1,2]. Each subject provided a pooled pair of nose and throat swabs to be tested by the QuickVue rapid test on site. Overall test positive rate were weekly aggregated and compared with a hospital laboratory surveillance system (Weekly influenza virus isolation rate from the Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong) and a pre-existing community influenza sentinel surveillance system (Weekly consultation rate of influenza-like illness reported by general practitioners in private practice from the Centre of Health Protection, Department of Health, HKSAR).

Sensitivity and specificity of rapid influenza testing of children in a community setting 1
INTRODUCTION Rapid influenza testing (RFT) allows for a rapid point-of-care diagnosis of influenza. The Quidel QuickVue Influenza A+B test (QuickVue) has a reported manufacturer's sensitivity and specificity of 73% and 96%, respectively, with nasal swabs. However, investigators have shown sensitivities ranging from 22% to 77% in community settings. METHODS The QuickVue rapid influenza test wa...

The early detection of pandemic influenza strains is a key factor for clinicians in treatment decisions and infection control practices. The aims of this study were to determine the analytical sensitivity and clinical performance of the commercially available influenza rapid tests in Taiwan. Four rapid tests for influenza virus (BinaxNow test, QuickVue test, TRU test, and Formosa Rapid test) we...

To investigate the diagnostic accuracy of the QuickVue® Influenza A+B rapid test we conducted a prospective observational study in which this rapid test was compared with a real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) for pandemic influenza A H1N1 (2009) infection in Austrian adults. The sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values of the QuickVue ...

Provided test characteristics are adequate, point-of-care rapid antigen detection tests for influenza could improve the timeliness and appropriateness of clinical decisions. Our objective was to estimate the field sensitivity and specificity of the Quidel QuickVue Influenza A+B test in an ambulatory setting. The sensitivity and specificity of the Quidel QuickVue test was evaluated against rever...

Background: Pandemic influenza A viruses are often zoonotic. Rapid influenza virus diagnostics can play a role in reducing pandemic virus spread. However, most diagnostic tests have not been evaluated against animal influenza viruses. Objective: To evaluate a leading rapid diagnostic test against zoonotic influenza A virus strains. Study Design: We evaluated the performance of the QuickVue® Inf...
